Ah, February.

Ah, February.

February always seems to sneak up on me. After a bit of relaxation in January after a busy holiday season of craft shows and late nights at the studio, when the calendar page turns it's a stark reminder that Spring is just around the corner (Ha! not here in the Maritimes, but in the rest of the Northern Hemisphere) and it's time to make new things!  I've been busy working on new prints, getting my new website going, and making plans for spring craft shows. How it's made

Print

The fabrics are screen printed by hand using water-based inks. Here I am printing repeats with the help of a t-bar and fan.

The patterns are cut out in a way to maximize fabric usage. Any leftover fabric will become hats or underwear.

Then it's time to sew it all together into the final pieces. Everything is sewn in small batches by colour for efficiency.
