Well, it's been a busy couple of weeks here at Poison Pear! With two craft shows back to back, a feature in Globe and Mail, and a new wholesale order, it's been pretty hectic. After doing some yoga and relaxing a bit, I'm here to tell you about it:
This was my second time participating in the Etsy PEI Spring Market, and it was so nice to see my favourite PEI crafters again! Like Kim Roach, The Felted Fawn, and BirdMouse. Once again the space was beautiful and bright, and there was live music throughout the weekend, and even a bar. It was also great to hang out with some of my Nova Scotia craft buds on Saturday evening.
I spent the day before I left in the shed making a bunch of new display items, including a folding pegboard type thing to show off my baby hats and onesies a bit better, and some simple boxes. Here is the finished product, what do you think?
Next up was Halifax Crafters, the quintessential show voted best craft show by readers of The Coast several years in a row. With the forecast calling for heavy rain all weekend, I wasn't sure what to expect, but the rain mostly held off, and the people showed up in droves. Here's a great shot from Mostly the Coast of the crowds. That's me front right!
Biggest sellers were definitely leggings, dresses, and tops; lots of shoppers were on the hunt for locally made clothing.
One of my favourite parts of doing shows is seeing everyone's purchases on instagram the day after. Here's my little haul: I had to practice some real restraint because there was so much great stuff!
Featured: A beautiful hanging terrarium from Looking Glass Design, a little carved spoon from Terron Dodd, a letterpress card from Deep Hollow Print, and a sassy patch from Friday55 I plan on sewing onto a bandanna for my dog.
So today was spent sleeping in, loading and unloading all my market stuff in and out of the car, doing yoga, and generally relaxing a bit before getting back to work restocking what was sold, and working on some new things.... Stay tuned!
